Peaky Blinders movie: Release date speculation, cast, latest news

We now know that a feature film sequel to the series is coming, as was initially confirmed by Knight in January 2021 and reaffirmed in a recent interview.

Speaking to Heart Breakfast, Knight said that he's nearly finished writing the script and that the movie will be shot at his new studios in Digbeth, Birmingham.

He explained: "We’re going to shoot it at the studios in Digbeth, and on location in Digbeth in Birmingham. Digbeth and Small Heath is where the Peaky Blinders actually roamed. So it's like Peaky’s coming home, basically."

Knight has also offered a fair few hints about what we can expect from the film's plot, so read on for everything we know so far about the Peaky Blinders movie.

Unfortunately, it's still far too early to pinpoint a release date at this juncture, but we have got a bit more of a sense of timings thanks to a recent interview with Steven Knight.

The Peaky Blinders creator said that he's "hoping that we'll be shooting… within 18 months. And then obviously, we put it together. I don't know. I mean, it will depend on the distributors and things when it goes out.

If all goes to plan that would suggest the film will be shot by the end of 2023, making a late 2024 cinema release date seem likely. However, it's all up in the air at the moment.

When asked whether Tommy and his brother Arthur would still feature in the Peaky Blinders world after season 6, Knight told Digital Spy: "It's impossible to say yet. But the film – yes.

As for who else might feature, it's too early to say – but Peaky Blinders has introduced a huge amount of iconic characters throughout its run and we'd expect many of them to make appearances.

In particular, we'd expect the stars who play Shelby family members to make appearances, with Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Natasha O'Keefe, and Harry Kirton among those likely to play a role.
