If any fish crosses the path of mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto, creator of Chainsaw Man, it is recommended that you swim away from it as quickly as possible.

According to Anime Senpai, the official English version of Tatsuki Fujimoto's second one-shot collection, titled Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 22-26, was recently released. In this work, Fujimoto chose to use it as an improvised place to confess his deepest feelings and his darkest mistake.

In his words, he reports having lived in a modest apartment in Yamagata with his partner, where they took care of a pet Japanese fish. During the time they were together, the fish died during the summer. Fujimoto's partner urged him to bury the beloved pet, but things didn't go according to plan.

Fujimoto tried to bury the poor fish under a tree, but to no avail as the ground was too hard and his hands got dirty and he couldn't dig a hole. He had no choice but to leave the question open.

As Chainsaw Man fans know, love can make people do inexplicable things, and it was "the love that first arose in Fujimoto" for his pet fish that led him to eat it. That's right, Fujimoto ate the fish after all. And anyone who has read his manga knows that the deepest form of love is when two things become one.
